Halvorsen Music Festival was started in 2005, and has developed into a major festival for classical music. After the city anniversary in 2011, it grew into a one-week festival with about 12 concerts. The festival has classical concerts, but also presents jazz and folk art. We use venues such as Drammens Teater, Union Scene, Bragernes and Strømsø churches, Gildehallen and Børsen. Fantastic music in a unique city.
  Johan Halvorsen's Passacaglia and Air Norvegien are known all over the world. Played on the most important stages by brilliant musicians like Itzak Perlman and Pinchas Zuckerman. Halvorsen is from Drammen and is one of Norway's greatest composers from the national romantic golden age. Halvorsen is the musical center of the festival and the starting point for an exciting programmed festival; one week in March every year!
Birgitte Stærnes is
the festival's artistic director and daily administrator. In addition to her career as a soloist and chamber musician, she is part of the duo A Corda, a classical violin / guitar duo, which has existed for 20 years.
Martin Haug is the festival's founder. He participates in both artistic and administrative work, is formally chairman of the board. In addition to this, he is active as a performer in duo A Corda together with Birgitte Stærnes
